News & Assignment Producer - The National Football League

About the Job
The News & Assignment Producer will be responsible for daily NFL news production and assignment desk editorial and technical coordination and communications with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Daily news production for all NFL Media platforms
- Contributes to studio or remote production of event and news centered days on the NFL Calendar such as: Pro Days, OTAs, Minicamps, Free Agency
- Communicates with Management regarding editorial decision making
- Coordinates and books transmission feeds and execute file transfers
- Closely partner with news talent to produce news updates for NFL Media platforms
- Prioritizing absolute accuracy when writing and producing news updates or contributing to assignment desk editorial newsgathering
- Work directly with broadcast master control and control room staff to coordinate live productions
- Communicate directly with broadcasting and club partners
- Work with assignment editors to obtain and/or distribute editorial content and information internally and externally
- Ensure accuracy by being an editorial resource for content producers
- Collaborate with ticker staff to generate and edit news and information
- Work under pressure in a newsroom environment while maintaining the ability to handle tough situations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years' experience in newsgathering and live production with television/digital news or a comparable sports news organization
- Well versed in all aspects of news gathering and planning
- Experience working directly with on-air talent
- Possess strong production skills in a live control room environment while being able to make editorial decisions during stressful live broadcast situations.
- Keen editorial judgement and awareness. You must have in-depth knowledge of football and the National Football League
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Detailed organizational skills and project management
- Must be able to follow instructions and work well with others in a stressful and fast-paced newsroom environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily assignments
- Strong football knowledge and awareness of NFL events and stories, ability to quickly identify players and coaches
- Ability to meet deadlines under high pressure situations
- Able to communicate clearly during high pressure situations
- Familiar utilizing social media as a source of breaking news
- Quick learner with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- BA in Journalism or Communications preferred
- 3+ years in a newsroom environment
Other Key Attributes / Characteristics
- Working with others in various levels on the assignment desk, overseeing desk functions in off hours – including holidays
Terms / Expected Hours of Work
- NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week
- Must be flexible with work schedule including weekends and overnight shifts and holidays
