About the Job
Summary:
The Vacaville Reporter is looking for a News Editor to lead a team of reporters covering breaking news in Vacaville and the surrounding Solano County communities, along with stories both in print and online that will engage our audience.
What you will do:
Lead the charge by assigning and editing compelling stories, ensuring accuracy and adherence to journalistic standards
Take charge of news budgets, optimizing resources for effective coverage
Work collaboratively with our small team of journalists to foster a dynamic and supportive newsroom environment
Dive into local reporting, contributing to the of stories in our community
What you will bring:
Journalism experience, AP style knowledge and the ability to quickly compile accurate reporting on a variety of topics; spelling and grammar skills required
Experience working with various technologies for the position including PC laptops, digital cameras and recording equipment
Good people skills are necessary for conducting interviews with sources
Bachelor's degree preferred; experience in a professional journalism newsroom required
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required
Travel:
Some required within the geographic region
Most work is done remotely; driving to cover stories is occasionally required

The annual salary range is $66,580. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
