About the Job
About this opportunity:
Being a news photojournalist means going places other people don't get to go. This is an opportunity with a collaborative team on a fast-paced morning news show, to see the sunrise through the lens of your camera, and to make a difference by informing the community in which you live. 4 News Now is looking for a photojournalist to add to our staff of experienced photographers, continuing a proud legacy of storytelling. Every day is different and every day, you'll have the opportunity to learn something new and grow your skills.
Why Work for 4 News Now?
Because we care about you and your life outside of work just as much as we value the work you do in the newsroom and in the community each day. We're here to help you grow in your career and will train you to tap into your creative side while also spotlighting the news in our community. We're a family-owned company and a newsroom where the mantra “take care of the team” guides everything we do. You'll work in a newsroom that truly believes in our role to serve the community and telling the stories that empower and inform our viewers. You'll also live in a city that's growing and changing, with virtually no traffic and plenty of access to the outdoors.
What you'll do:
You'll be a part of our morning news team, with the most experienced anchor team and reporters and producers who love what we do and why we do it. You'll set up live shots in the field for our morning reporter and shoot video of breaking news, community events and other stories. We'll teach you how to operate LiveU equipment and also how to turn an interview and some b-roll into compelling news content to air on TV and digital platforms. You'll be up before the sun, but also have your afternoons, evenings and weekends free to explore all that the Inland Northwest has to offer. Your voice will matter in making daily decisions about news coverage and creative ways to tell stories.
What you'll bring:
A 4-year degree and/or equivalent work experience is preferred, but we're ready to train you if you're eager and excited to do the job. It's great if you have basic knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment and some editing experience. You'll need to be an early riser and dependable worker who is also self-motivated and able to work in a deadline-driven environment.
What you'll get in return:
You'll get a supportive work environment with co-workers and managers who value your work, your time and your perspective. You'll get the training and support you need to do your job well. You'll get to work with journalists at all levels of their career who are passionate about what we do it.
