Job Details
This position is responsible for working with the Handbook Chairs and leadership to guide content and develop strategic plans for incorporating the most valuable content that supports the safe use of these materials in aviation and related fields. The Secretariat also manages day to day activities including virtual and in-person meetings, promotes CMH-17 at industry conferences, coordinates with the publisher and related standard development organizations, tracks ballots for handbook content, and performs reviews and technical editing.
Job Summary
Performs professional support as the Secretariat of the Composite Materials Handbook for the CMH-17 Organization. Provides publication services to ensure that the book is organized, edited, printed and distributed as a high-quality product. Assists in organizing the meetings of the coordination groups and provides required meeting services. Responsible for maintaining material databases and providing technical review and statistical analysis of the data.
Essential Functions
Prepares publication-ready engineering handbook and works with publisher(s) to publish the handbook including, but not limited to, contractual arrangements, and editing.
Creates, maintains, and distributes documentation as needed; maintains current and archival versions of the handbook.
Plans, schedules, and/or coordinates meetings while maintaining contractual agreements with facilities, technical support, and/or registration.
Updates and maintains the CMH-17 website; creates and maintains a social media presence for the organization.
Creates and distributes communication as needed.
Maintains relationships with external organizations, partners, and volunteers; advertises and represents the organization professionally at conferences, workshops, etc.
Maintains financials, collects revenue, and administers contracts.
Job Duties
Prepare publication ready engineering handbook
Maintain organizational membership rosters
Maintain relationships with other handbooks and standards development organizations
Work with publisher(s) to publish the handbook (including all contractual arrangements, editing, etc.)
Schedule and host virtual meetings for the groups as needed
Work with the handbook chairs to plan meetings
Work with the handbook chairs to plan the in-person semi-annual coordination group meetings
Coordinate all meetings through contractual agreements with facilities, technical support, registration.
Update and maintain the CMH-17 website (with support of software team)
Maintain updated working version of the handbook with latest content
Compile sections for review, send for votes, compile votes, and distribute the feedback
Maintain records for archival versions of the handbook
Send all organizational communications
Participate as a member of the leader group
Advertise and represent the organization at conferences, workshops, etc., such as with presentations, booths, and other displays
Create and maintain a social media presence for the organization
Maintain financials for the organization; collect revenue, administer contracts that are approved by leadership, etc.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to integrate disparate data and/or information into a cohesive quality technical and/or business writing
Strong computer skills including MS Office suite
Excellent organization, communication, and collaboration skills, with the aptitude for critical thinking
Strong attention to detail
Expertise in English language grammar, spelling, and usage conventions and best practices in scientific writing
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel in a vehicle for distances including, but not limited to, across city, county, and state.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
