About the Job
We are seeking a part-time 'Night Owl' night auditor to work at the limited-service Motel 6. The Night Auditor’s primary responsibilities are to balance and run the nightly audit, front desk duties such as assisting customers, maintaining a quiet and secure environment, removing problematic guests, completing laundry consisting of sheets and towels, as well as some light cleaning tasks that are to be completed each evening.
The 11pm - 7am awake overnight position must have a strong ability to complete tasks without supervision, have strong independent problem-solving skills, and be able to be an authoritative figure and handle problematic guests without management present. Lastly, being awake overnight in a sleeping facility means that many times there is little customer interaction — other times there is near constant customer interaction; the night auditor must be able to self-entertain as there usually is some downtime.
Other responsibilities include completing laundry, cleaning tasks, and shoveling when necessary.
- Maximum of 56+ hours per 2 week pay period (3 shifts one week/ 4 the next)
- Minimum 32+ hours per 2 week pay period (2 - 3 shifts each week)
- Every-other weekend availability is required you will usually work one each month
- Shift begins at 11pm and ends at 7am the following morning
- You can pick up additional hours if you have availability to work 3pm-11pm, or 7am-3pm shifts when someone needs time off.
- During your train-in period, you may be requested to work a few 3pm-11pm and/or 7am-3pm shifts just to learn the basics of our facility.
Responsibilities Include:
- Greet and assist customers with all their needs
- Register guests, process departures, make reservation
- Use a phone and a property management computer system
- Washing and folding of linens/terry and distribution to other floors
- Sanitizing, sweeping/moping, and cleaning public spaces and employee areas
- Keep coffee area clean well stocked
- Conducting regular security walks and remove problematic guests or guests breaking hotel policy with help from law enforcement
- Investigating or analyzing out-of-balance situations and adjusting or correcting accounts as needed - notify management of discrepancies.
- Removal of snow from the entry area as needed
Requirements:
- Must be able to problem solve and resolve guest issues
- Must be able to respond appropriately to emergency situations
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Must have basic math knowledge to balance and verify totals on accounts
- Must be able to interpret and follow policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to learn the Motel 6 property management software
- Must be able to frequently stand, sit, push, pull, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to see differences in widths and lengths of lines, such as those on graphs
