SOME (So Others Might Eat) exists to help the homeless and poor of Washington, DC. With over 30 programs throughout the District of Columbia, we provide a wide spectrum of services to the most vulnerable individuals and families in our city. Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $17.50 and may commensurate with experience.
SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking a full-time Night Manager (live on-site) for our Family Services department - Thea Bowman location. The Night Manager lives on the property and provides safe and dignified affordable housing for families.
Position Description: The Night Manager maintains the security of the facility during off-hours, provides upkeep of the facility, and performs maintenance activities to ensure a comfortable, clean, and dignified home for residents. Perform light cleaning of buildings and grounds and provide light facilities maintenance.
Schedule: Tu, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat (8pm-12am) (20 hours/week)
Qualifications:
Required: Some High School education; 1-3 years of security, residential, and/or janitorial experience.
Preferred: HS Degree/GED; 3-5 years of janitorial experience; Experience providing services to low-income populations, and families, Drivers License.
Required License/Certification: CPR/First Aid, AED Certification, This position will require that the Night Manager live on-site in provided living space ( i.e, efficiency, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom, where applicable)

- Knowledge of basic cleaning and maintenance techniques
- Ability to establish and adhere to strong professional boundaries
- Good customer service skills
- Flexibility with the ability to multi-task despite competing priorities
- Practical communication skills with the ability to read and write
- Ability to manage and resolve conflict effectively
- Ability to communicate appropriately with sensitivity with diverse audiences
- Basic computer skills
- Effective time management skills
Contributions:
- Safety Management: Monitor facility after-hours and maintain log book, Inform Program Management of any emergency or security concerns, Develop and submit incident reports, as needed, Perform drug screens, as needed, Conduct building and property walkthroughs at regular intervals, Maintain building security and review security cameras.
- Program Management: Enforce building regulations and guidelines for community living. Follow the facilities management checklist and perform the schedule of duties, Establish a relationship with local law enforcement. Assist with resident lock-outs as needed. Address emergency situations, as needed, Assist staff during social and educational programs for residents, as needed. Supervise building operations overnight. Communicate to Program Manager any facility safety issues.
- Community & Maintenance: Provide cleaning to common areas, lounges, bathrooms, and kitchens as needed. Perform light facilities maintenance duties, Provide snow and ice removal from walkways during winter.
