Job Description
This position is responsible for all department operations. Assumes the Directors responsibilities and authority in his/her absence. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Provides direct leadership and guidance to the supervisory staff to ensure that a high level of cleanliness, quality, and service is achieved and maintained. Assists with CDC, OSHA and Joint Commission compliance.
Responsibilities
Maintains a high level of cleanliness throughout the hospital. Ensures that proper supply control and cleaning guidelines are followed and staff is trained in the use of all equipment and supplies, including chemicals.
Develops and maintains work schedule assignments and expectations. Assigns personnel to established work areas and assignments. Plans and coordinates project work to ensure that proper frequencies are maintained. Ensures that staff receives proper orientation, initial training, and ongoing education
Maintains a proactive approach to identifying and correcting facility quality assurance concerns. Timely follow-up is required. Ensures high quality percentage of cleanliness is maintained in all areas of the hospital. Performs Quality Assurance Inspections as needed.
Participates in staff selection process. Interview candidates as needed. Maintains department master schedule, coordinating the scheduling of days off, holidays, and vacations, ensuring that facility's needs are met in accordance with hours and position control.
Responds to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and take necessary corrective action including timely follow-up. Participate in department safety and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
Coordinates special requests or projects and perform other duties as assigned. Assist housekeepers on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred, but 5 to 7 years' experience in environmental services management and leadership positions may be substituted. Must be knowledge of CDC/OSHA/JCAHO and/or other regulatory codes that affect the environment and waste management
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Considerable experience in an institutional environment, with 3 to 5 years management experience
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Working knowledge of all housekeeping practices and procedures. Strong work ethic, intense drive, and initiative for quality and customer service. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent listening and empathy skills. Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in-group situations. Ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff. Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions. Excellent administrative and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize. Proficient in Microsoft Office software and other computer programs

Preferred Pre-T-CHEST (trainer) program
