Description:
- Inspection of Composite Materials: Perform Non-Destructive Inspections (NDI) on composite panels, spars, and sub-assemblies to detect structural defects, flaws, or inconsistencies in materials.
- NDI Techniques: Use a variety of NDI methods, including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), TTU, and PE Phased Array, to inspect composite materials and ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
- Data Interpretation: Analyze and interpret NDI data to identify any defects or areas of concern in composite components.
- Documentation & Reporting: Document inspection results, maintain detailed reports, and initiate corrective actions for non-conforming parts and assemblies.
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure inspections meet Company and industry standards (AS9100), following established processes and quality requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with quality, engineering, and production teams to resolve issues and provide feedback on the integrity of composite components.
- Tool Maintenance: Calibrate and maintain NDI equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement activities, providing feedback on inspection processes and suggesting enhancements.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an NDI Technician, preferably in aerospace or composite manufacturing.
- Experience using Ultrasonic Testing (UT), TTU, PE Phased Array, and other advanced NDI methods.
- Familiarity with Airbus or Spirit AeroSystems inspection standards and procedures is a plus.
- Certified Level I or higher in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and/or other relevant NDI methods.
- Certification in accordance with NAS-410 or equivalent standards is required.
- Strong knowledge of composite materials and aerospace manufacturing techniques.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and inspection instructions.
- Problem-solving Skills:
- Ability to identify defects and recommend corrective actions to address non-conforming parts.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform detailed inspections in various manufacturing environments.
- Previous experience with Airbus projects or similar aerospace manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Additional technical training in NDI methods, composite materials, or aerospace technology is preferred.
