Summary The NPI Purchasing Leader coordinates Procurement activities New Product Introduction Projects, Transfer Projects and MRO Purchasing. This position is vital to the flow of materials for successful implementation of New Product Development projects. This position will have 1 direct report.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Plan, organize, direct, and control purchasing activities related to New Product Introduction Projects, Manufacturing Site Transfer Projects, and Purchasing for MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies) Items.
- Develop and implement NPI Purchasing Processes.
- Place Purchase Orders for tools, samples and material, to meet the needs of NPI and Transfer projects.
- Represent Procurement on APQP Meetings.
- Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, and take necessary actions to pipeline material, and mitigate supply risks.
- Ensure supplier performance regarding quality, price, delivery, and service metrics for assigned projects.
- Administer the processing of Engineering Change Notices for NPI and Transfer Projects.
- Manage and Monitor SAP Master Data setup
- Work with Commodity Managers, Engineering, SQE and Suppliers to ensure Parts are ordered and delivered in a timely fashion and meet quality and price expectations.
- Identify new Suppliers for categories not supported by Commodity Management.
- Determine priorities for supplier deliveries based on manufacturing needs and supplier capabilities.
- Manage Procurement of Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies. Ensure suppliers meet cost, service and quality expectations of the stakeholders for such items.
- Negotiate or supervise the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Manage the maintenance of proper controls over assigned inventory items and arrange for disposal of surplus materials.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Strong communication skills and competency working with internal personnel and external vendors.
- Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in direct purchasing or related field
- Minimum of 3 years' experience with ERP systems
Preferred Skills/ Experience
- Experience with SAP
- Knowledge of Electronics or Electro Mechanical Industry
- Management Experience
