- POSITION OVERVIEW
- The Nuclear Medicine/Radiological technologist is responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic technical procedures under the direction/supervision of a physician. The Nuclear Medicine/Radiologic technologist prepares and positions patients for scanning, prepares and administers radioactive drugs and operates nuclear medicine instruments and imaging equipment. He/She prepares data for interpretation. The Nuclear Medicine technologist is responsible for performing radiation safety and quality control procedures on all nuclear medicine equipment as required by the department. The Nuclear Medicine/Radiologic technologist will be scheduled based on operational need, which may include extended shifts, night and/or weekend shifts, overtime and holidays.

Some of the major job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Adheres to prescribed standards for Radiation Safety and Infection Control.
- Provides patient and family education related to imaging procedures.
- Utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the Hospital Information System (HIS) and PACS.
- Assists in training and orientation of other employees.
- Assists with training of Radiologic Technology students.
- Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains yearly AHA Healthcare Providers BLS certification, safety and infection in-services, plus adequate education hours to meet ARRT or NMTCB requirements.
- Assists with coordination of patient exam scheduling.
- Performs other job duties as requested.
- It is the expectation that all tasks are performed with a patient-centered focus while seeking opportunities to continually improve core processes.

- REQUIREMENTS
- Education:
- Graduation from an accredited program for Registered Radiologic Technologists.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years Radiology experience required.
- Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly.
- Ability to perform diagnostic procedures and to meet the specific needs of various patient age groups: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current ARRT registry required for Radiology and NMTCB in good standing
- Current AHA Healthcare Providers BLS certification.
