Job Summary
This position is a PSEG Nuclear that provides a natural growth from Nuclear Operations Professional to Nuclear Network Operations (NetOps) Professional within the Information Technology organization. This position performs higher level technical work specifically performs Network and Application monitoring and advanced maintenance support functions for diverse population of Infrastructure and Software Systems hosted at PSEG Nuclear including both business and plant process systems. Initiate timely response and recovery actions when services degrade or fail to minimize client impacts and system downtime. Provide local Information Technology support for Server and Network Administrators outside core business hours and for client refueling outages. This position will be located at our Nuclear site at Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey.
Job Responsibilities
+ Perform 24x7 Network, Server and Application monitoring for PSEG Nuclear hosted Infrastructure and Applications
+ Document incidents and other records and their resolution in PSEG's IT ServiceNow system
+ Provide 1st level support and response including assessment, analysis, escalation and proposed resolution of system incidents and/or malfunctions
+ Escalate incidents as required and respond to client inquiries and provide feedback regarding status of incidents/issues
+ Support the coordination of incident response and problem resolution with appropriate IT Operations associates and Suppliers
+ Provide recommendations to tune monitoring tools and perform periodic walk downs and equipment checks of vital telecommunications and network infrastructure not instrumented or monitored remotely
Job Specific Qualifications
Required
+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information/Computer Security, Engineering, or relevant technical experience: Networking and/or Network Operations Center experience
+ In lieu of bachelor’s degree, must have 4 years of technical experience (Networking and/or Network Operations Center experience)or an associate degree with 1-2 years of relevant technical experience (Networking and/or Network Operations Center experience)
+ Overall strong technical proficiency in information technology/computer disciplines.
+ Proficient MS Office skills (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access)
+ Experience working with or related coursework in .NET, HTML, SQL, Java, Java scripting or Object Oriented Design.
+ Self-starting with the demonstrated ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.
+ Detail oriented and demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
+ Good written and oral communication skills.
+ Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, IT management and staff.
+ Must fulfill and maintain PSEG Nuclear requirements for holding a badge for unescorted access by successfully completing fitness-for-duty, OSHA, general employee and other required training
+ Off-hours, weekend and shift work is required
+ Position will be a support team member of the PSEG Nuclear Emergency Planning EOF Support team and must be willing to support call-out and after hours support for PSEG Nuclear Emergency Preparedness program drills and events.
