As an Nurse Anesthetist, you will be responsible for providing patient care and support throughout the perioperative period. This can include preoperative assessment and sedation, administration and management of an anesthetic, and discontinuation of the anesthetic and postoperative management. The UCM CRNA Lead is a responsible CRNA who supervises a team of staff CRNAs, as a collaborative member of the DACC leadership team, and also provides direct Anesthesia patient care in the UCM Surgical and Procedural areas. In conjunction with the CRNA Director, the CRNA Lead oversees the day-to-day operation of his/her CRNA Team; and handles an array of administrative duties, including, but not limited to, scheduling, discipline, problem resolution, recruiting and hiring, retention, education, and professional development.
Essential Job Functions
- Performs all of the current duties of the clinical CRNA, while performing direct patient care for patients.
- Serves as a role model for staff members, by demonstrating exemplary clinical ability and leadership skills.
- Promotes team dynamics, mentors, and coaches CRNA Team members.
- Serves as the administrative liaison between CRNA team and CRNA Director
- Assists CRNA Director with creation and implementation of CRNA initiatives, such as quality Improvement and Research projects, Education and Professional Development programs, and Off-Site Recruiting Activities
- Attends department, hospital, and APP specific meetings as assigned by the CRNA Director and reports back to CRNA Director and/or CRNA staff.
- In collaboration with the CRNA Director, the CRNA Lead manages personnel functions, including interviewing, selection, hiring, on-boarding, orientation, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions of his/her CRNA Team, in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures.
- Assesses staff satisfaction, develops and implements strategies to address satisfaction issues, and develops methods to reward and recognize team members for the purpose of CRNA retention.
- Determines staffing needs in consultation with CRNA Director and assures proper scheduling and utilization of services in maintaining quality patient care.
- Implements established staffing patterns based on patient needs, staff qualifications, and resources available, to ensure quality patient-centered care.
- Demonstrates 24-hour accountability for maintaining appropriate staffing levels. Ensures all required CRNA call shifts are accounted for.
- Identifies educational needs of CRNA Team members and encourages participation in various programs and classes, ensuring that each CRNA attends required educational programs, as mandated by hospital policy.
- Participates in and promotes staff participation in professional and institutional activities.
- Demonstrates a cost-conscious attitude toward time and resource usage.
- Encourages staff participation in designing and attending in-service classes.
- Submitting ESP, correcting and approving bi-weekly time cards, approving reimbursement submissions.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a licensed CRNA with more than 5 year experience
License or Certification
- current Illinois registered nursing license and an advance practice nurse license; certification by American Association of Nurse Anesthetists
