POSITION SUMMARY:
The Nurse assumes responsibility for specific nursing functions within the scope of licensing as delegated by the Nursing Supervisor/Administrator. The Nurse functions as a member of the Nursing Staff in cooperation with other departments. This is a Part Time position, working 2 pm to 10 pm, weekends. Salary range is $34.00 to $45.00 hourly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
An active New York State LPN/RN certification and 5 years of recent nursing experience, preferably long-term care.
Sound supervisory and nursing judgement is essential.
CPR certification is required.
Commitment to continuing professional development including active participation in in-service classes.
Ability to relate to sisters-residents professionally and with understanding and sensitivity.
Ability to handle emergencies effectively.
Experience and updated knowledge in nursing techniques and care programs.
Ability to accept suggestions and direction.
Flexibility in scheduling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1. Act as advocate for all residents.
2. Apply knowledge of drugs, drug interactions, diagnostic tests and other therapeutic modalities based on established principles and precautions.
3. Supervise administration of medications.
4. Utilize nursing assessments skills to evaluate a resident's changing health needs.
5. Perform health assessments on new admits to the Convent.
6. Diagnose and treat the resident's unique responses to diagnosed health problems.
7. Execute medical regiments as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
8. Contribute as members of the Interdisciplinary Health Team to plan and implement health care for the residents.
9. Maintain current and accurate medication administration records according to protocol.
10. Document all changes in a resident's physical, emotional or cognitive status.
11. Monitor and instruct nurses and nurse's aides in giving residents safe quality care.
12. Assist with orientation and skill training of new nurses and nurse's aides.
13. Work with Interdisciplinary Health Team in meeting a resident's ordinary and extraordinary needs.
14. Cooperate with other in-house departments in creating a safe and healthy environment.
15. Perform any and all duties necessary for the well-being of the residents.
