Nurse Manager of Cancer Support Services
Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary:
The Manager of Cancer Support Services for Thompson Cancer Survival Center is responsible for the leadership of our oncology navigation, housing coordination, social services, nutrition, and genetic counseling teams. Cancer support services are provided to patients of Thompson Cancer Survival Center across the Covenant Health cancer network which includes locations in Cumberland, Anderson, Hamblen, Knox, Loudon, Blount, Sevier, and Roane counties. These teams are responsible for providing coordination of care, clinical support, education, and other services to reduce the barriers to care and improve outcomes for our patients. This position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating the work of all cancer support teams across our cancer program. The Manager of Cancer Support Services reports to the cancer program VP of Nursing/CNO and is a critical member of the cancer program leadership team. Support Services Nurse manager will be responsible for leadership of Nurse Navigation team, social workers, and nutritionists at Thompson Cancer Survival Center. Candidate must have active RN license and oncology experience.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for recruiting, interviewing/hiring, staffing, employee/team development, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures.
- Responsible for establishing and enhancing a collaborative working relationship with physicians and non-physician practitioners.
- Demonstrates an understanding of workload ratios, individual team member skills related to competency, and the formation of optimal teams to provide top quality and excellent customer care.
- Determines the appropriate indicators to achieve a successful team. Monitors these indicators and provides consistent, frequent feedback to the CNO and team members regarding performance relating to goals, objectives, and benchmarks.
- Manages and approves payroll preparation and monitors sick time, overtime, and paid time off.
- Assists in the development of annual budgets for all Cancer Support Services departments.
- Monitors internal customer satisfaction results for managed areas.
- Manages and provides operational oversight of the NAPRC Coordinator.
- Leads staff meetings at regular intervals to provide direction to department, listen, and provide feedback.
- Manages and improves educational materials provided to patients from the Patient Support Services departments.
- Acts as a constant administrative advocate for patients and staff.
- Oversees and participates in multidisciplinary cancer conferences.
- Evaluates and monitors quality metrics and reports findings at the quarterly Cancer Committee meetings.
- Works to develop and maintain physician rapport.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Three (3) years oncology experience and two (2) years leadership experience.
Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain Tennessee RN license. Oncology certification preferred at time of hire or must be working toward obtaining the OCN within three (3)years of employment. Preference may be given to individuals with an ONN-CG.
