Nurse - MRMHS - Monadnock Regional School District

• Valid State license to practice as a registered Nurse
• Experience in public health nursing preferred

• Federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to schools and medical information

• Communicating with diverse groups and individuals, including students and parents
• Collaborating and working as part of a team
• Maintaining the confidentiality of students and staff
  
  

• Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of students and staff who have suffered injury or emergency illness.
• Conducts school health service, including physical examinations, immunizations, and tests for hearing and vision.
• Oversees, prepares and dispenses medication for students.
• Assumes responsibility for selection and referral of students in need of medical and dental care
• Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on school medical matters.
• Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
• Participates with school staff in developing and implementing total school health programs, including presenting concerns and issues in class.
• Contacts and visits the homes of students referred by the Principal or when necessary.
• Advises on modification of the educational program to meet the health needs of individual students.
• Authorizes exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
• Advises teachers on health matters, particularly regarding screening for student health defects.
• Assists school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools.
• Attends committee meetings and conferences regarding health service and health curriculum.
• Participates in in-service training programs.
• Other duties as assigned by the building Principal.
