Nurse Navigator (Cardiac Arrhythmia)

Navigator to join our Cardiac Arrhythmia team. As a member of the Division of Nursing's (DON), you
will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of patient care in this
specialized field.
Position Overview
The Nurse Navigator is responsible for the coordination of patient care across the continuum within the scope of nursing practice. The navigator educates/provides information and support to patients to guide and facilitate understanding of treatment plans. The Nurse Navigator oversees, directs, and provides holistic, culturally competent, and evidence-based nursing care. The Nurse Navigator is recognized as a professional role model and clinical expert and promotes a professional environment that supports nursing excellence and collaborative shared decision-making.
Unit Highlights
Our dynamic Electrophysiology Lab team is made up
of Registered Nurses, Cardiovascular Technologist and support staff, to include
MOAs and PCT’s, that work in a dynamic and innovative environment for a unique
patient population! Our focus is patient safety while utilizing cutting
edge technology and research that supports the treatment and wellness of our
patients! A few of these procedures included the following: Loop
Recorders, Electrophysiology Studies, Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter
Defibrillator (ICD), Atrial Fibrillation Ablations, Aflutter Ablations, SVT
& VT Ablations, Cryo, and Watchman.
Key Responsibilities
Works with an interdisciplinary team throughout the
continuum of care to develop and manage the plan of care for the patient.
Provides initial and continuing education related to
specific disease process, associated treatment modality, and agreed plan of
care for patient and family.
Acts as a liaison between patients, families, the health
care team, community resources and other facilities to coordinate the provision
of care.
Able to work as a part of an interdisciplinary team through
open, frequent, and skilled verbal and written communication.
Must be flexible, demonstrate problem solving skills,
proactively prioritize and demonstrates healthy coping mechanisms.

Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Nursing Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Preferred (For candidates hired with an Associate’s Degree, employment with MedStar Washington Hospital Center is contingent upon enrollment into an accredited BSN program within one year of employment and continuing matriculation in the program to achieve a BSN within 5 years of the program start date. Proof of enrollment to be submitted to Nurse Leader.
Active DC RN License
3 or more years of progressively more responsible job-related nursing in a specialty area
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
