Our practice is made up of 29 board-certified cardiologists and four cardiothoracic surgeons. We merged with CHI Memorial Health Care System in 2011 which is part of CommonSpirit Health. Job Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for utilizing training and skills to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Obtain medical histories when necessary.
• Perform physical exams (within established protocol).
• Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines).
• Order diagnostic test.
• Prescribe or recommend medications for prescription for medications and treatment (within protocol guidelines).
• Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling.
• Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality.
• Assist doctors hospital rounds.
• Work closely with other nurses to assure patient flow is efficient.
• Consult with other physicians regarding patient symptoms to assure proper diagnosis and plan of treatment.

License/Certification:

• Current/valid APN from the state of Tennessee
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification

Qualifications:

• One year previous experience as an NP in an acute or primary care setting or equivalent RN experience.
• Cardiology experience preferred.
