*TITLE:* Nurse Practitioner *FULL-TIME:* 5 Days/week (Includes 1-2 Weekend days/months)

*DESCRIPTION:*
*Position Summary:*
The GI Nurse Practitioner provides medical management of patients both in the office and in-house under the care of the Gastroenterologist within the scope of practice recognized by state law. The GI Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the attending physician to coordinate and manage the process of patient care from the point of consult request, through discharge and hand-off to a community care provider.
*Medical Management:*
* Performs histories and physicals and formulates plans in conjunction with attending physician on inpatient gastroenterology/hepatology consultations.
* Identifies and manages acute illness from admission through discharge in collaboration with physician with adherence to best practice guidelines.
* Prescribes medications and therapies as appropriate.
* Collaborates with attending gastroenterologist to ensure that all current labs, test results, orders, etc., are carried out in timely manner.
* Communicates pertinent information regarding patient’s hospital stay with patient’s PCP or Hospitalist as needed.
* Meets with patient/family regarding patient care.
*Education, Training, Experience:*
* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with MSN
* Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in state of Ohio
* Certification in Adult/GERO or Family Practice certification with recent inpatient experience
* Well-developed communication and diagnostic skills
