Summary
Under the direction of a licensed physician, the Nurse Practitioner provides medical services to patients using approved patient care protocols; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations and provides direct patient care services.
Responsibilities
Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination
Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care
Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources
Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources
Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and Tenet nursing policy
Ensures that all contact with patients, the public, physicians and other personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner
Education and Experience
Includes minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job:
Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) required
Current Florida Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner License
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification for Health Care Provider required
Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification for Health Care Provider required
EMR/EHR experience preferred, NextGen or Athena experience preferred
Proficiency in a windows environment with a working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and the Internet is required
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and employees
Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a complex, matrix environment
