Job Summary and Qualifications
- Uses advanced clinical judgment and clinical reasoning to diagnose the patient. Synthesizes relevant data to develop a patient-centered, evidence-based treatment plan of care. Manages care across the health continuum, and records progress notes.
- Orders and evaluates diagnostic tests, procedures, and therapeutic modalities and interventions.
- Orders non-scheduled medications. Orders scheduled medications (II-V) as permitted within state and federal regulations per relevant specialty and certification.
- Performs procedures in accordance with defined qualifications and competencies based on licensure, related state practice act, and approved hospital privileges.
- Educates patients/families/caregivers about the patient's medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete knowledge.
- Educates patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.
- Serves as a resource for hospital/clinic employees in the provision of patient care by providing professional advice and guidance, including rapid response or code team response, as appropriate.
