Job Details
General Responsibilities and Duties for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner:
Perform complete initial and annual psychiatric evaluations, as well as on-going
Outpatient psychiatric assessment and treatment for eligible consumers.
Provide clinical management of urgent/semi-urgent clinical situations; consult with
Medical Director and/or Nursing Manager as warranted.
Comply with clinical and administrative requirements regarding consumer financial
plans of care, requirements of third party payers for reimbursement for services
and as applicable, regional funding relative to hospital admissions and discharges.
Documentation of services provided in accordance with established agency
and licensure standards, in an accurate and timely manner.
Participate in treatment planning meetings and complex case staffing; provide case consultation and collaboration with agency staff as needed.
Provide medical support, education, staff development and training for agency clinical and nursing staff.
Collaborate with Emergency Services Crisis staff on interventions and hospitalizations.
Promote the concepts of recovery with individuals and staff.
Prepare written reports and/or provide oral testimony in commitment and/or other legal proceedings.
Comply with established legislation, mandates, program standards, and all WTCSB
requirements regarding patient services and documentation.
Qualifications:
Unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Virginia
completion of a post-masters Nurse Practitioner Certification
Clinical experience working with the severely mentally ill and seriously emotionally disturbed children, including individuals with co-occurring illness and developmental disabilities.
Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Minimum of two (2) years assessment and treatment experience with children and
adolescents.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a community behavioral health setting.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable DMV driving record at the time of employment and continuously, thereafter
