Position Summary: The Provider will diagnose and treat patients with acute and chronic conditions as well as serving as a consultant and educator. The Provider will obtain complete history and physical data on patients, reviews patient records, and interpret data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. The Provider will perform a complete physical exam and record findings and establish presumptive diagnosis. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures, synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention, and will interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Reviews plan of care and treatment with supervising physician as appropriate. The Provider will recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs. Additionally, the Provider will be responsible for coding visits appropriately in compliance with CMC Coding and Compliance policies and CCI. The Provider will make referrals to physicians and other healthcare providers, document assessment, management, and education clearly and concisely within the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree (MSN) in nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year experience working in a physician practice required. (Three (3) years preferred.)
- Prior Oncology experience strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of South Carolina in good standing (SCLLR) required.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification required.
Special Skills:
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with nursing colleagues, physicians, department heads, and member of executive leadership required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Explorer and PowerPoint required.
- Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in all situations required.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in emergency situations required.
