Job Requirements
- Current and unrestricted license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), PMHNP-BC. Preferred Dual certification FNP-BC or AGACNP-BC
- Masters or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a Psychiatric certification
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner - DEA license or eligibility to apply for one
- Basic Life Support (BLS), PALS and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Certification can be obtained or renewed through our in-house nurse educator.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as an APRN PMHNP, preferably in primary care, acute care, or a specialty area relevant to the practice setting. Will consider exceptional applicants with less experience.
- Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments - Prescriptive authority or eligibility to apply for prescriptive authority in the state of employment
- Proficiency in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong understanding of disease prevention, diagnosis, and management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development to maintain current knowledge in the field
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Flexibility to adapt to changing healthcare environments and work schedules
Job Responsibilities
- Provides, supports, and closely coordinates mental health care with the patient’s primary care provider and, when appropriate, other mental health providers.
- Screens and gathers information from patients regarding common psychiatric, mental health and substance abuse disorders and screens for physical, developmental, emotional genetic, neurological, environmental, or other social or cultural risk factors.
- Supports psychotropic medication management prescribed by primary care providers to address treatment adherence, side effects and other complications, and effectiveness of treatment.
- Assists other physicians and providers in revision and implementation of practice principles, clinical protocols and health care plans as needed.
- Performs psychiatric examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment.
- Provides psychiatric medical consultation to providers and patient care teams.
- Documents patient histories, progress notes, interventions, and orders in the electronic health record.
- Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Establishes and maintains rapport with community agencies.
- Documents patient encounters, patient progress, treatment, and follow-up care in the electronic medical record system within the scope of practice.
- Facilitates referrals for clinically indicated services outside Family Hospital (mental health specialty care, substance abuse treatment, housing assistance, etc.).
