Nurse Practitioner

Job Type: Part Time 30 hours a week

Location: Bureau of Prisons, San Diego, California

Schedule Range: Monday-Friday (7:30AM - 2PM)

Job Summary: We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner to join our team who will provide holistic and quality care to our patients. A Nurse Practitioner's responsibilities include helping with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations. They know there is no single solution when it comes to patient care. Responsibilities: Included but not limited to

• • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate population
  • Conduct medical histories, examine inmates, and order and interpret laboratory tests, x-ray, and other diagnostic testing
  • Diagnosis and treat patients in an efficient, timely, and professional manner, provide treatment plans, and prescribe medication utilizing the Bureau of Prisons formulary
  • Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing
  • Attend to medical emergencies
  • Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy.
  • Perform emergency consultation in instances where deemed necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with the staff physicians and consulting physicians in planning, instituting, evaluating, and revising program plans
  • Assists in determining conditions, resources, and policies essential to the delivery of health care services
  • Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems
  • Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick calls, which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings, and providing clinical evaluations
  • Provides a wide range of emergency services in the absence of the physician
  • Constantly be aware of security and maintain a professional relationship with inmates at all times

Requirements and Experience: Included but not limited to

• Master's degree in Nursing
• Valid California license
• BLS (AHA)
• Proof of malpractice insurance
• Must have 1 year of family medicine experience or 1 year of urgent care experience
