Direct Care Aide: CNA, PCA, DCA, NA
Position Summary: Provide personal care services, assistance, and support to resident while upholding service standards, philosophy, and mission.
Position Responsibilities – Service
- Following the guidelines as outlined in the resident care plan (ISP), assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, eating, hygiene, and mobility
- Monitor the health, safety and well being of all residents, maintaining a daily communication log; document information pertaining to changes in residents’ functional status and personal needs
- Cleaning and trimming finger and toe nails
- Wash, Dry, Fold/Match resident laundry
- Strip and make beds
- Assist in serving meals and bussing tables
- Participate in and attend all required in-services training sessions
- Answer business phones
- Tour inquiring individuals
- Clean up urine , bowel movements, or blood when housekeeping is unavailable
- Answering call bells and respond to alarms
- All other duties assigned
Team Effort:
- Assist in the development and updating of each resident care plan (ISP)
- Assist in ensuring compliance with State and Local Regulations
- Chaperone activities outside the facility as needed
- Assisting other Aide with resident care needs
Action:
- Identify resident issues and communicate them to the Administrator and the resident’s physician
- Keep the environment safe for residents
- Provide one-on-one support/visitation to assigned residents
- Respond to resident emergencies; provide first-aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention and follow-up
- Practice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensils
- No horse playing or agitating resident

- Meet the licensing requirements of CN.A or DCA certification or be enrolled in a class for certification
Job Title: Direct Care Aide
Nonessential skills and experience:
- Previous experience as a direct care aid
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate
Reporting to the position: No direct reports
Dress Code:
- Nursing Uniforms / Scrub type clothing
- Tennis, Nursing, or Croc type shoes need to be slip resistance. No open toe shoes. Shoes must be worn at all times during working hours.
- Name tag
- Watch with second hand and black pen
- Hair should be out of the way of care
- No piecing that dangle. No lip or eyebrow rings

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use fine and gross motor skills, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and or smell. An individual must have the reading ability at the level to comprehend care notes. An individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight in up to 75 pounds. Intermittent physical activity includes lifting and supporting residents. . The employee must be free of diseases that can be transmitted in the performance of job responsibilities during the stage of communicability.
The employee must use proper body mechanics to assist resident in their daily living.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to minimal to moderate noise. The employee will be exposed to blood and/or body fluids. The employee may encounter traumatic situations, such as having to care for mentally ill resident and contact the deceased residents. Employee will be scheduled based on operational needs (e.g., shift rotation, standby, on-call, ect) SLEEPING IS NOT PERMITTED DURING WORKING HOURS.
