Job Summary:
- The Nursing Services Manager oversees nursing services and ensures safe patient care within the assigned department and across the continuum of care.
- Manages services that align with nursing standards, organizational goals, and performance metrics.
- Leads the 24/7 delivery of nursing services, ensuring adherence to cost, quality, clinical, and utilization standards.
- Establishes and maintains patient care standards to meet expectations in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Collaborates with Nursing Leadership to develop and execute strategic and business plans for integrated services.
- Drives continuous improvement in clinical practices, services, and operations.
- Develops and monitors departmental budgets, ensuring optimal use of human and material resources.
- Identifies strategies to reduce costs while enhancing the quality of care and service.
- Determines the appropriate staff mix and oversees recruitment, training, and competency maintenance.
- Ensures ongoing professional development and staff growth.
- Develops and monitors departmental policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals.
- Leads quality improvement initiatives and manages fiscal activities.
- Resolves human resource and risk management issues while promoting a culture of safety.
- Ensures consistent application of patient, employee, and departmental safety standards.
- Participates in leadership committees and forums at local, regional, and national levels.
- BSN, MSN is preferred
- At least 5 years of FT equivalent Level III NICU RN experience. Experience must be current or very recent.
- At least 3 years of FT equivalent Level III NICU Manager or Supervisor experience. Charge Nurse experience doesn’t meet this requirement (also referred to as Clinical Coordinator)
- Strong knowledge of nursing regulations and excellent interpersonal and management skills.
- Leadership experience, particularly in clinical nursing roles, is highly valued.
- Management experience in a union environment
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Basic Life Support
- NRP
- RNC-NIC
- Required experience as a Level III NICU Manager or Supervisor; experience as a Charge Nurse (Clinical Coordinator) does not fulfill this requirement.
- In-depth knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission (TJC), and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and management abilities.
- Ability to consistently exhibit the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to deliver exceptional and culturally responsive service to colleagues, members, customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
- Capable of thriving in a Labor/Management Partnership setting.
