Nursing Quality Outcomes Specialist - Conway Medical Center

Education:

• Associates degree (ADN) in nursing required.
• Bachelors degree (BSN) in nursing preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of two (2) years direct clinical nursing work experience in the acute care setting required.
• NDNQI and quality experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to quality and process improvement functions and quality tools and methodologies, to include Casual Analysis activities.
• Prior experience in working under the following programs and standards preferred:
  • Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation (CoPs);
  • Det Norske Veritas National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (DNV NIAHO) standards;
  • ISO 9001, etc.
• Healthcare system\hospital quality-based experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of South Carolina in good standing required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manages the NDNQI database, meet all data submission requirements, serve as resource for others regarding nursing sensitive indicators and NDNQI requirements.
• Responsible for collecting, entering, and coordinating nursing outcome data.
• Performs project-based chart reviews, benchmarking activities and staff education in support of nursing performance improvement initiatives.
• Analyzes and provides outcome data to both Nursing and Quality leaders.
• Assists with the implementation of best practices to improve patient outcomes.
• Assists with skin prevalence and restraint utilization studies as needed
• Participates as an active member of the Nursing Falls Committee working to reduce preventable falls.
• Provides ongoing data analysis and trending of all NDNQI data with benchmarking.
• Generates graphs and quality reports to share with stakeholders and designated Committees.
• Collaborates with Quality department, Patient Safety Manager, Leaders, and others to meet nursing quality goals
• Effectively manages assigned projects with a level of independence in performance of the role and/or solution of problems
• Other duties as assigned to include coverage of essential departmental functions and services
• Actively participate as the department representative on designated multidisciplinary teams and Committees.
• Supports clinical operations and clinical initiatives as assigned.
• Display exemplary core customer service.
• Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, department heads, and members of leadership.
• Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
• Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Explorer, and PowerPoint.
• Regularly exercise independent judgment.
• Complete other duties as assigned by department leadership.
