Summary
Inpatient Dialysis encompasses the Acute Dialysis needs of Cox South Hospital. Our staff of Registered Nurses and Certified Dialysis Technicians provides for the Dialysis needs of both Acute and Chronic Dialysis patients while hospitalized. We utilize the latest in Dialysis technologies to maximize the outcomes of Dialysis treatments performed. Dialysis treatments are performed within our Acute 8 bed dialysis unit and at the bedside in one of our adult Intensive Care Units. Other services performed by our Dialysis Nursing staff are Peritoneal Dialysis utilizing CCPD/CAPD methods, and Therapeutic Plasma Exchange. Dialysis Nursing in this department is a collaborative team effort between skilled Nephrologists, Nephrology trained Advanced Practitioners, Dialysis Nurses and Technicians. We work as a close knit team to advance the health of the patient populations we serve. Our department is staffed with a diverse level of Dialysis experienced staff who enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience with patients, families, and new staff. Job Summary
- The dialysis registered nurse provides direct nursing care to patients with acute or chronic renal failure. Specialized skills include pre-dialysis assessment, dialysis access, monitoring during and after treatment, operating the dialysis machinery, point-of-care lab testing, and patient/family education.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Experience
- Preferred: Previous nursing experience
