Nutrition Service Associate I
Wenatchee High School
6 hours per day/190 days per year
Salary: $18.28 - $19.79 per hour
DESCRIPTION: Primarily responsible for ware washing, clean-up duties and set-up of service areas, serving foods and assisting lead server with preparation for meal service as well as operation of computerized point of sale system. Fills in where needed to ensure efficient operation. Must communicate well with the lead server and central kitchen staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assists Lead Elementary Server in heating food items received from central kitchen following written instruction or demonstration. Assists Lead Server in setting up hot and cold food stations and service areas with food and supplies. Serves and oversees student meal service to insure the USDA Child Nutrition requirements for reimbursable meals are being met. Receives and transfers foods and supplies to and from storage areas. Operates computerized Point of Sale system. Washes service wares and kitchen utensils. Recognizes and reports all necessary facilities maintenance promptly. Cleans the production areas as necessary. Adheres to all sanitation regulations. Conducts daily inspections of all areas of the facility to ensure compliance with established practices, regulations and standards. Maintains an attitude of flexibility when dealing with everyone to resolve problems with students, staff or production. Communicates with everyone respectfully and courteously. Suggests improvements to operating format. Notifies the kitchen manager of low product levels. Fills in where needed to ensure efficient operations. Attends and participates in mandatory meetings. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:Must hold/obtain a valid/current food handler’s permit. One-year high volume food service experience preferred. High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Ability to relate well to students and staff. Ability to maintain accurate records/reports. Requires physical ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments. Must work in and around fumes and odors. Requires standing, stooping, bending, lifting, turning and reaching. Must maintain a high standard of personal hygiene. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.
