O&M Technician – Communication & Network Specialist
Location: Deploy to Japan
Security Clearance: Minimum Secret
Education: Associate degree in Computer Science or a graduate of US Navy C school (see required curriculum below)
Experience: 3 years (or 4 years with DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification in lieu of a degree)

Caribou Thunder is seeking a highly capable O&M Technician – Communication & Network Specialist to support a large Department of Defense contract. As an O&M Technician, you will be responsible for performing on-call engineering services, including maintenance, repair, installation, testing, retrofitting of hardware and software, troubleshooting, training, and documentation updates. This role will contribute to the smooth operation of critical systems and equipment while at sea.

As an O&M Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous operation of critical systems and equipment. You will be responsible for performing on-call engineering services, including maintenance, repair, installation, testing, retrofitting of hardware and software, troubleshooting, training, and documentation updates.
This position requires a strong technical background and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data networks, digital computers, microprocessors, and distributed data systems.
Operate and maintain technology 24 hours a day while at-sea and at least 10 hours a day while in port.
Participate in T-AGOS ship operations, including equipment maintenance /modification, mission preparation, and extended periods at sea.
Provide training to personnel on system operation and maintenance.
Update documentation to accurately reflect system configurations and procedures.
Conduct dockside and at-sea troubleshooting to ensure uninterrupted system functionality.
T-AGOS ship mission period is generally 6 months at sea performing the mission, then 3 months stateside. During the 6-month mission period, T-AGOS vessels will periodically enter remote ports for stores and minor mission maintenance. Port visits may vary from 3-14 days.
30 days in port twice a year for equipment maintenance/modification and mission preparation.
TAGOS O&M technicians with assigned duties can live aboard the ship while in port.
1 week training in Virginia Beach before deployment.
Minimum Requirements
-US Navy electronics C school required curriculum must relate to the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of:
-Secure networks and communications systems
-Navigation systems
-Sonar surveillance systems
-3 years of practical hands-on experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data networks, digital computers, microprocessors, and distributed data systems.
-Experience in developing network automation solutions and experience with new network technologies including voice, automation, and other network technologies.
-Experience with updating systems, including operating systems, networking and storage templates, server design, storage allocation, and virtualization.
-Experience in troubleshooting network connectivity issues, repairing hardware, and performing daily tasks such as status reports, asset tracking, and generating trouble tickets.
-Open to deployment for extended periods.
-Active Passport.
Preferred Requirements
-Experience with other communications technologies is also desired but is not considered mandatory for this position.
-Experience with COMMs SUBSYSTEM includes: SHF, UHF SATCOM and LOS, HF, NOW, IFF, SECURE VOICE and DATA CRYPTOS, CMS, EKMS, KMI, SIPRNET, ADNS/CFCP, and/or NIPRNET is desired but not mandatory for this position.
-2 years of combined experience in the management, administration, maintenance and repair of UNIX and Windows based computer networks. Experience must include the areas listed below:
ISNS, CENTRIXS, and/or SCI Navy systems (or equivalent type network)
-Windows based network management and administration
-Cisco routing and switching and server and router configuration and management
-UNIX/LINUX based processing systems management
-Other networking tools, software, and appliances
