GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. The Constituent Affairs Division (CAD) is the OAG's interface with the general public. Incoming contacts from the public, whether by phone, mail, or email, are received by CAD and are handled by CAD or routed elsewhere in the agency to be handled. Responds to main OAG switchboard, mail tracking, routing agency correspondence and filing. Assists with clerical tasks, reports, and other duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Responds to inquiries to the main OAG switchboard by providing information and referrals; records requiredinformation as needed.
Assists with clerical tasks, reports, and other duties as assigned
Maintains various internal tracking and filing systems
Reads and routes agency correspondence; prepares outgoing mail, courier requests
Greets visitors, responds to inquiries, and directs them to appropriate staff
Performs related work as assigned
Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
Experience: One year of full-time experience in administrative support, customer services, or public information; may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
Skills in using a computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to handle stressful situations
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
Experience: Multi-line switchboard and clerical tasks
Knowledge: State government
Skills: Data entry, word-processing, mail merger and using the Internet
Abilities: Customer service skills
Other Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak English and S anish
Ability to type 35 wpm
