Description
The OB Technician works in collaboration with the physician and RN in both clinical and clerical duties. The OB Technician is responsible for stocking the delivery rooms with needed supplies and ensuring surgery rooms are immediately accessible. After delivery the OB Technician is responsible for cleaning the procedure area and restocking supplies immediately post-procedure. The OB Technician must follow aseptic technique during obstetric/gynecological procedures, practices under the direction of the physician and OB nursing staff. Provides careful attention to patients with delicate conditions while assisting with personal needs. Other duties may include administrative and clerical support, including, but not limited to, answering unit telephones and gathering patient information.
Post-secondary course work in surgical technology, biological sciences, medical assisting or related discipline is preferred. Three years of progressive operating room surgical technician and/or obstetrical patient care experience is preferred. BLS certification is required (or within 30 days of hire into the position).
