JOB SUMMARY:
The Office Manager is responsible for ensuring clerical and clinical staffing is adequate in the office and assesses and assigns daily job duties; has the understanding and the ability to perform all functions in those areas; is responsible for training new staff members and maintaining office inventory as well as establishing and maintaining favorable working relationships with clients, patients and other external and internal customers. The Office Manager assists with the development of processes and protocols and the expansion of services.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates Degree in Business Administration or other health care related field
- 2 years clinical experience in OBGYN medical office or hospital setting
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Indiana or Registered Nurse License
- 3 years of Management Experience
- Clinical Experience in an OBGYN office or other Women's Health Setting.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrators, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies presenting a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
- Excellent time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to problem solve, multi-task in a fast-paced setting and work well in a team environment.
- Ability to negotiate effective working relationships and develop positive resolution to conflict.
- Highly developed computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
- Understanding of office procedures and general accounting principles.
- A professional level of knowledge of Medicare and other managed care regulations typically obtained through a combination of formal training, workshops, seminars, or by job experience.
- Must have good problem-solving skills, writing skills, coding and reimbursements, and an understanding of management concepts and maturity is demonstrated.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High degree of accuracy with concentration and close attention to detail.
- Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Typical office environment within physician office practice with risk of exposure to blood, body fluid or other potentially infectious materials. May be at risk for electrical hazards or hazardous materials.
- Works with protected health information.
- Travel is required to go to various practice locations.
- May work extended hours or weekends based on the needs of the department.

- Use of computer and other standard office equipment.
- Extreme concentration and attention to detail.
