Occupational Therapist, per diem - Lions Gate

Job Description

The Occupational Therapist plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate development and rehabilitation of mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled persons.

The ideal candidate has a current NJ Occupational Therapist state license and is a graduate of an accredited therapy program with at least 3-5 years of experience as an occupational therapist. The therapist must have a genuine desire to help others.

This is a Per Diem position that may require some weekends. 

Responsibilities

• Completes and maintains patient records.
• Tests and evaluates patients' physical and cognitive abilities and analyzes medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.
• Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs.
• Plans, prepares, or carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
• Records prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enters information into computer.
• Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
• Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
• Selects activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental or physical capabilities.
• Recommends changes in patients' work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities
• Plans and implements programs and social activities to help patients learn skills and adjust to handicaps.
• Conducts training programs in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.
• Complies with professional, ethical and legal standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current NJ Occupational Therapist state license required.
• Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
• At least 3-5 years of relevant experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to utilize electronic medical record and Microsoft Office programs.
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed.
