- JOB SUMMARY
- Implements occupational therapy program in hospital or institution to facilitate development and rehabilitation of cognitively, physically, or emotionally disabled pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and adult persons by performing the following duties under the general supervision of the Registered Occupational Therapist.
- DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
- Collaborates with Occupational Therapist in developing treatment plan including short and long term goals.
- Provides treatments on assigned patients in a timely manner and selects purposeful activities suited to the patient’s physical capacity, cognitive level, and interest to upgrade maximum independence, assist individuals in restoration of function, aid in adjustment to disability and assist in preparation to reach short and long term goals.
- Collaborates with other members of the team to select the most appropriate activity programs consistent with needs and capabilities of the patient and facilitates the ability to improve functional, re-vocation and vocational homemaking sill and activities of daily living.
- In collaboration with the Occupational Therapist, evaluates effectiveness of interventions toward individual goals makes revisions as needed or recommends appropriate continuum of care when maximal potential has be achieved.
- Designs and fabricates orthotic devices and assistive/adaptive equipment for the patient and suggests adaptations to his/her work/living environment. Teaches patients skills and techniques required for participation in activities.
- Documents treatments and goals in EPIC.
- Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to identify needs and continued services once discharged from current level of care.
- EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum requirement:
- Associates Degree in Applied Science in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE accredited school or equivalent.
- Maintains active licensure in the State of Kentucky as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. (temporary license accepted with full licensure obtained within 60 days of start)
- Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Preferred qualifications:
- Maintains NBCOT certification.
- Minimum requirement:
- WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
- Constantly exposed toblood and/or body fluids andinfection.
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
- Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
- Frequently required to walk and move about.
- Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
- Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
- Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
- Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
