What You'll Be Doing:
We are looking for a seasoned expert in OFAC and global sanctions to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of the Treasury regulations and similar international frameworks. This position is key in making sure the organization meets the complex requirements of sanctions programs, as strict enforcement measures are in place. You will be the go-to advisor for sanctions-related inquiries and will work closely with various internal teams to reduce risks tied to sanctions breaches.
Main Responsibilities:
- Act as the organization's lead authority on OFAC regulations and international sanctions programs.
- Interpret and apply sanctions regulations to keep the organization fully compliant.
- Advise Compliance, Operations, and other departments on screening processes and regulatory responsibilities.
- Track updates to sanctions lists, regulatory changes, and enforcement actions to ensure prompt process adjustments.
- Lead the review of sanctions-related inquiries from internal teams or regulators.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures that minimize sanctions risks and adhere to strict compliance standards.
- Provide training to staff to boost knowledge of sanctions rules and associated risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to manage sanctions-related issues and consult with external legal counsel when needed.
- Report regularly to senior management on sanctions compliance, risks, and mitigation strategies.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in law, finance, risk management, or a related area.
- 7+ years of experience in sanctions compliance, with a strong understanding of OFAC regulations.
- Expertise in interpreting and applying detailed sanctions rules.
- Familiarity with both U.S. and global sanctions frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to navigate sanctions risk in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative work style.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS-Sanctions or Certified Global Sanctions Specialist are preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work with the organization's software systems.
