Job Title: Shift Supervisor
Salary: $60,000-$85,000
Schedule: 2nd/3rd shift
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
This is a unique Supervisor position requiring a variety of manufacturing skills and knowledge with an ability to appropriately flex a schedule to connect with 2nd & 3rd shift personnel. This position will provide oversight for the various tasks related to manufacturing during 2nd & 3rd shift operations. 2nd and 3rd shift Assembly Dept. members will report directly to the Shift Supervisor. This position also gives oversight to other 2nd and 3rd shift personnel and shares responsibilities for the indirect reports under associate manufacturing department supervisors.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and maintain a flexible schedule to effectively connect with 2nd & 3rd shift manufacturing personnel and overlap with 1st shift staff for meetings & other company business interface.
• Effectively interact and communicate with associate supervisors to understand and coordinate production expectations during 2nd & 3rd shift.
• This position will be responsible for daily check-ins with all 2nd and 3rd shift members of manufacturing to maintain good relations and identify any needs for the shift.
• 2nd & 3rd shift Assembly personnel are direct reports to this position.
• Provide oversight for the 2nd & 3rd shift operations of other manufacturing departments as indirect reports.
• Recruits, trains, develops, assesses performance, and communicates with direct reports.
• Plans, monitors, and reports as necessary the production operations of the 2nd & 3rd shift manufacturing personnel to appropriate associate supervisors.
• Assists associate supervisors in administering corporate and department policies.
• Advises and assists in continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing area.
• Approves timecard entries and time-off requests for direct reports.
• Ensures, to the extent possible, that 2nd & 3rd shift members work to the same standards and expectations as 1st shift.
• Develop an annual budget related to position and personnel for inclusion with the Assembly Dept. budget.
• Administers Progressive Discipline Plans for direct reports and advises disciplinary needs for indirect reports to the appropriate department supervisor.
• Conduct team meetings, by sharing data that is collected over the month/year, communicate safety issues/concerns within the department, and any other pertinent member information.
• Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances or submit unsettled grievances to Human Resources for action.
• To maintain the quality and implement procedures to improve the functioning for better efficiency and productivity.
• Provide direction on any emergency procedures and protocols that could be encountered during 2nd and 3rd shift operations.
• Promote 6S Program to ensure department safety and continuous improvement. May identify, plan, and facilitate 6S improvement events within department.
• You will be expected to operate according to ISO 9001 requirements.
• Active participant of the Leadership Team. The leadership team is responsible for aggressively supporting safety within the workplace and will take steps to make sure that all members comply with safety rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Associate or bachelor's degree preferred in a manufacturing or engineering program. Related experience and/or training in a manufacturing setting, preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role with proven leadership qualities, or relevant leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with direct reports & associate members in a group or one-on-one setting. In-depth knowledge of the work procedures as you may be required to train members. Good organizational, leadership and time management skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Self-motivated, capable of taking direction as well as working with little supervision while mentoring others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
WORKING CONDITIONS
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
