We are seeking a talented and experienced Principal Data Platform Engineer to lead our advanced analytics efforts in collaboration with medical research partners. Position Overview:
As the Principal Data Platform Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our dynamic team, responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data platforms and algorithms that drive groundbreaking insights in the field of medical research. You will work in close collaboration with imaging analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to develop and implement data-driven solutions that advance scientific knowledge and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Platform Development: Lead the design and development of scalable data platforms to process, store, and analyze diverse data types used in medical research, including genomic, clinical, and imaging data.
- Infrastructure and Architecture:Establish and maintain the infrastructure necessary to support data collection, storage, and analytics, ensuring security, scalability, and reliability.
- Data Security and Compliance: Implement data security measures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, data privacy laws, and ethical considerations in medical research.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously improve the efficiency and performance of viewer, data, and algorithmic platforms to support real-time or near-real-time research insights.
- Algorithm Engineering and Optimization: Work with data scientists to optimize algorithms for processing of advanced analytics, including data processing, statistical analysis, machine learning, and deep learning techniques, to extract meaningful insights from various data sources.
- Collaboration: Work closely with research scientists, data scientists, and software engineers to understand their research needs and integrate their requirements into data platforms and algorithms.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for data platform architecture, algorithms, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and research reproducibility.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering professional growth within the team.
- Research and Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest developments in medical research, data science, and healthcare technology to drive innovation within the organization and contribute to scientific breakthroughs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience (5+ years) in imaging data engineering, data platform development, and advanced analytics.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Expertise in big data technologies, including Lakehouse architectures, Trino, Data Bricks Delta, efficient querying and distributed computing.
- Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning tools and frameworks such as MLFlow, TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
- Strong understanding of medical imaging research, data types, and research methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for driving innovation in scientific research.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven 3+ years of work experience with AWS infrastructure and deployments
- Experience with DevOps, CloudOps, MLOps
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Argo
