Overview:The Office of Councilor Gabriela Coletta Zapata is looking for enthusiastic, dependable, and driven interns for the summer. As an intern, students will have the opportunity to get involved in the ins and outs of municipal government work, attend Council meetings, and assist with researching items pertinent to the day to day work of the Councilor. Duties may also include attending community meetings, managing and responding to constituent services requests, and providing staff support to the Councilor and the staff in general. In addition to gaining research, legislative, and administrative knowledge and experience, students will have the opportunity to build relationships with City officials and learn the function of many key City Departments, such as the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, the Boston Planning Department, and the Zoning Board of Appeals. Key Duties and Responsibilities:As an office assistant, youth will have the opportunity to get involved in the ins and outs of municipal government work, attend Council meetings, and assist with researching items pertinent to the day to day work of the Councilor, including attend community meetings, manage and respond to constituent services requests, and provide staff support to the Councilor and the staff in general. The Ideal Candidate for this Job:Students should be familiar with Microsoft Office products and proficient in Google Apps for Work, have exceptional written and oral communication skills, and be able to conduct independent research.
