About the Job
Plans, directs, and coordinates all activities relating to the disaster recovery efforts for the County of Maui. Serves as the executive in the Office of Recovery and the top advisor to the Mayor and the Managing Director; collaborating with local government leadership, other governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and private sector recovery partners; performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This class is distinguished by its overall responsibility for providing vital leadership and policy oversight to the Office of Recovery, in financial management, community planning, housing, infrastructure, public health, natural and cultural resources, social services, economic development/revitalization, and working with emergency management teams.
Under the direction of the Mayor and Managing Director and with the wide latitude in the exercise of professional judgment, this single position class functions as the principal recovery officer for the County and exercises control over the work through subordinate support staff, executive assistants and supervisory/ managerial personnel.
