Job DescriptionThe Oligonucleotide Production Technician II – Liquid Handling will perform tasks associated with the production of modified oligonucleotides in a high throughput time sensitive manufacturing environment in compliance with company procedures and external regulatory requirements. An Oligonucleotide Production Technician II – Liquid Handling can be called on to work in any production shift in the Oligonucleotide Production Department. An Oligonucleotide Production Technician II – Liquid Handling will perform all tasks expected of an Oligonucleotide Production Technician I – Liquid Handling, with additional duties as detailed below and as dictated by the Oligonucleotide Production Supervisor – Liquid Handling.
Employee must sufficiently understand the process of oligonucleotide production performed by an Oligonucleotide Production Technician I – Liquid Handling and make independent decisions to troubleshoot and document Liquid Handling problems. Employee may also be responsible for a specified product or process. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.
- Performs all assigned job functions per documented procedures as directed by supervisor or manager
- Performs routine maintenance of equipment used in manufacturing
- Performs quantitation, normalization and aliquoting of oligonucleotides according to established procedures using Spectrophotometers, micropipettes, automated Liquid Handlers and other lab equipment
- Effectively prioritizes and communicates production, projects and/or troubleshooting status to direct supervisor
- Is available for troubleshooting with the Liquid Handling Team
- Assists in writing and reviewing Liquid Handling work instructions and supporting documents
- Initiate Change Control with guidance of the departmental Lead, Supervisor or Manager
- Initiates support tickets or repair tickets as necessary
- Assists in the training of new employees as directed by departmental Lead, Supervisor or Manager
- Work on special projects with the guidance and support of the departmental Lead, Supervisor or Manager
- Assists with organizational work with the guidance of Lead, Supervisor or Manager
- Maintains a clean and orderly laboratory environment
- Able to follow all documented procedures
- Conscientiously learns requirements of the ISO 9001 quality management system and diligently follows the terms of a quality contract, which describes the relevance and importance of the employee’s work to the achievement of LGC’s quality objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a science field, 2+ years of industry experience, and/or demonstrates proficiency to meet the requirements of an Oligonucleotide Production Technician II - Liquid Handling is required.
- Computer Skills
- Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel. Use of a web browser
- Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Experience with automated Liquid Handling platforms such as Tecan or Beckman Coulter preferred.
- Experience with FilemakerPro Database or similar database preferred.

The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: $ 20.913 / Hourly
Maximum: $ 34.855 /Hourly
This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the California -based position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as: experience, skills, and location.
