- Position Summary
- The Oncology Medical Office Assistant (OMOA) is a PRN float pool expanded role covering front desk or back office responsibilities within the offices of the Oncology Service Line departments depending upon the level of certifications and work experience in a practice setting. Some travel required as needed for office assignments in off-site oncology service line locations within multiple counties in Georgia and in South Carolina. As the OMOA for the clinic, this individual predominantly serves the clinical area, maintaining patient throughput in conjunction with providers but will be required to cross over into the administrative areas when needed to provide appropriate assistance. Back office duties include assisting the clinical team with documentation of vitals, turning rooms and other duties within the scope of the certification and/or clinical experience. Front office duties include the registration, patient scheduling, preparation of patient medical records, obtaining outside records, films and slides as well as other pertinent clinical and billing information. The Front office duties include general clerical duties and other tasks as assigned by the practice administrator.

- Experience
- 1-2 Years General Medical Office - Required
- 3-5 Years Certified Nursing Assistant - Preferred
- License & Certification
- MA, CMT, CNA (with oncology experience) are considered appropriate.
- In lieu of appropriate certification, two years of clinical experience in a medical office setting is acceptable. Majority of oncology related skill sets are on the job training.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required

- Under the supervision of the Practice Administrator or the Clinical Manager (CM) the OMOA obtains relevant clinical information through triaging patients using medical equipment to obtain blood pressures, weight, temperatures, and lab values.
- Following the directions/orders of physicians and APPs, the OMOA will schedule patients for diagnostics, therapeutic interventions and follow up to assure resulting of scheduled procedures is given to providers.
- PA/CPM may assign OMOA to assist providers with in office procedures, appropriate assistance with medical records documentation and other duties as appropriate to skill set and certifications.
- Provide administrative support to include but not limited to preparation of correspondence and completion of document requests per protocol, scanning of documents per protocol and timelines set within the department. Work with the office coordinators and front desk team as needed to maintain provider schedule and provide back up scheduling..
- Register patient in the EMR, practice management system and hospital system when necessary. Perform all the functions of the front desk office coordinators and provide backup coverage as directed. Scan registration and insurance documentations.
- Maintains a collaborative relationship with co- workers and patients. Completes daily tasks and all duties as assigned. Respects patient privacy rights and complies with patient satisfaction guidelines
