Virtus Healthcare Staffing is pleased to partner with a leading regional medical center in vibrant Las Vegas, Nevada, to recruit a highly skilled and dedicated Open Heart Surgery Technologist (OHST). This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment, collaborating with world-class cardiothoracic surgeons to provide life-saving care to patients undergoing open-heart surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Surgical Assistance: Provide expert technical support to cardiothoracic surgeons during open-heart surgery, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of complex procedures.
• Instrumentation and Tubing Management: Skillfully manage and maintain the instrumentation and tubing systems used in open-heart surgery, including the heart-lung (pump) machine.
• Patient Safety: Adhere to strict protocols and safety standards to ensure a safe and sterile operating environment for patients.
• Collaboration: Work effectively with surgeons, perfusionists, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Continuous Learning: Stay current with the latest advancements in open-heart surgery techniques and technologies through ongoing education and training opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a surgical technologist program accredited by a national accrediting organization or equivalent training program.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of scrubbing experience in a major operating room.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as an Open Heart Scrub Technician.
• License/Certification:
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (or obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Current BLS certification.
