Primary Purpose
Coordinates, schedules, supervises, motivates, trains and evaluates assigned staff, maintains OR polices, procedures, equipment and supplies to ensure activities meet OR, PHHS, and regulatory requirements.
Shift:It will be Monday-Friday, but we’re still working on times. Rotating.
Minimum Specifications
Education
•Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience
•Prefer six (6) years experience in patient care related area.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
•May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for the experience requirements.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
•Must have a current Heartsaver CPR course completion card within 90 days of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:
-American Heart Association
-American Red Cross Rescuer
-Military Training Network.
Skills or Special Abilities
•Must be able to demonstrate a superior knowledge of various operating room equipment and procedures.
•Must be able to demonstrate a superior knowledge of medical/surgical supplies.
•Must be able to demonstrate superior knowledge and skill of aseptic techniques.
•Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, both orally and in writing.
•Must be able to demonstrate supervisory skills.
Responsibilities
1.Selects, trains, schedules, motivates, supervises, evaluates and makes recommendations for disciplinary actions up to and including termination, to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities.
2.Supports the overall OR operation, makes daily rounds, inspects cleanliness of suites and other assigned areas, oversees maintenance of equipment, performs minor equipment repairs, maintains adequate levels of supplies and materials, and monitors the transport of patients to and from OR Suites, evaluates new equipment or supplies to ensure OR activities meet the needs of the OR Staff, PHHS and patients.
3.Responsible for maintaining patient safety and reporting unsafe conditions and/or practices to appropriate management personnel hospital-wide, as needed.
4.Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, work processes, work flows, etc. for the OR and implements appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the overall goals of the department and PHHS.
5.Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer (internal as well as external) satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of the PHHS.
6.Maintains a positive working relationship with OR Staff, other medical and administrative Hospital Staff, other Hospitals, vendors and patients to ensure OR activities meet PHHS safety, sanitation and regulatory requirements.
7.Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in the OR field by attending in-services, training, workshops and reading journals and literature and integrates this knowledge as appropriate into the job.
8.Maintains OR policies and procedures, guidance, manuals and internal procedural cards to ensure up-to-date information is available.
9.Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Operating Room area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
10.Prepares and presents employee OR orientation, in-services, and training programs for all levels of OR staff to ensure continuing education and development of staff.

Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
