Job Description
Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Operating Room Technician (OR Tech) performs a variety of duties to assist the staff in delivery of patient care. The OR Tech spends a majority of time interacting with, assisting, and supporting the OR team and surgeons; responsible to maintain logbooks in sterile storage areas; orders, unboxes, and stocks surgical supplies and instruments in sterile storage areas; and pulls disposable items for surgical cases. The OR Tech maintains cleanliness of storage space and manages inventory for outdates
Responsibilities
- Performs all responsibilities/duties required by surgical services, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the patients are addressed.
- Maintains logbooks in sterile storage areas.
- Performs a variety of assisting and servicing activities, ordering, unboxing, and stocking specialty supplies for surgery as well as CSR and Warehouse supplies.
- Works effectively as part of the healthcare team to facilitate the unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Provides and gives cooperative and courteous service to patients, staff, visitors, and others as part of the organization's commitment to quality services.
- Pulls surgery cases and ensures accuracy of cases pulled.
- Maintains supplies/inventory/ sterile instrument stock for department in all areas where supplies are stored for Surgery.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Must show initiative, maturity, and effectiveness in dealing with people.
- Well-groomed in appearance.
- Appreciation of and desire to be part of a healthcare team.
- Must be able to return to the hospital/facility within 30 minutes of a Callback.
- Is good with different computer systems and able to navigate with ease.
