SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief Credit Review Officer ("Director of Credit Review"), the Operational Excellence Program Manager is responsible for Credit Review operations and quality control. Responsibilities include preparation of external reporting, oversight and ownership of Credit Review Department process and change management, human resource matters, third party relationships, best practices and quality control programs (QC is in coordination with the Data Analytics program manager). Additionally responsible for the coordination of, or creation, design and presentation of training for the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
* Leading the development of the risk based annual plan and, with input from CR data analytics personnel, ongoing reporting on status to plan
* Communicating with internal and external third parties regarding Credit Review activities and processes and fulfilling information requests from external and internal stakeholders in a timely manner
* Periodic consult and liaison with CR data analytics personnel on design of analytical or data driven tools and processes
* Leading the development of, owning and maintaining department wide tools and processes such as sampling and Credit Review rating methodologies including the Quantity of Credit Risk, Quality of Credit Risk Management, Aggregate Risk and Direction of Risk
* Participating, leading, or supporting initiatives related to credit risk management programs, reporting and analytics, e.g., Risk Appetite Statement reporting, risk rating, analytics, data governance and quality, and other special projects as needed
* Managing the preparation of Senior Management and Board level reporting
* Manages the assurance and oversight of Credit Related MRAs requiring validation
* Managing the Credit Review technology strategy and tools including product ownership for the core CR technology line sheet tool. Point of contact for interaction with related partners both internal, e.g., BKU Information and Technology, and external groups
* Leading the design, promotion, and implementation of process changes and strategic initiatives to maximize departmental effectiveness and efficiency
* Ownership and maintenance of Credit Review procedures and Credit Review Policy
* Manages/Oversees the Department's Project Administrator, who is responsible for providing support and management on matters related to planning, project and change management, administrative and human resources matters, and operational aspects for Credit Review. Additionally supports business partner and third-party interactions
* Works to lead the Department in continuous process improvement and professional practices standards
* Periodic coordination of off-site training or special purpose meetings, including location, meals and other activities.
* Travel 10% or more
* Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
* Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
* Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Supervises function, projects or services and/or one or more employees, as applicable.
* Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
* Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance coaching; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree required Master's Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
* 10+ Years experience in regulatory relations, audit or credit assurance functions (credit review/loan review)required
* Experience in program management and project management required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organizational, change management and project management skills
* Familiarity with best practices and process for Risk Issue and MRA validation
* Demonstrated expertise in program management, strategic planning and project planning
* Ability to lead people through high change environments for extended periods of time while also supporting fulfillment of business-as-usual requirements.
* Understanding of /embracing the need for holding self, staffing, peers to higher performance standards
* Creative ability to design and build large-scale processes with timely deliverables.
* Knowledge of both commercial and retail loan portfolios and loan portfolio management, and how to assess associated credit risk.
* Abilty to stay current (up to date) with regulatory changes, industry trends and emerging technologies and tools
* Ability to directly or indirectly lead groups of people in large-scale projects with timely deliverable
