Job Summary: As a Freight Broker, you will play a critical role in managing transportation logistics, connecting carriers with shippers to facilitate the seamless movement of freight. You will be responsible for coordinating shipments, negotiating rates, and ensuring on-time delivery, while building strong relationships with customers and carriers to grow business opportunities. This role requires excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to meeting the dynamic demands of the transportation industry.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and respond to inbound quote requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitor shipments from pickup to delivery, addressing any issues or delays proactively.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all transactions, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
- Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to align goals and optimize freight brokerage services.
- Use transportation management software (TMS) to track shipments, maintain records, and analyze logistics data.
- Stay informed on industry trends, pricing, and market changes to remain competitive.
- Ensure all daily tasks are performed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain dashboards and update Utopia with most up-to-date statuses.
- Solve consolidation and routing issues to ensure delivery within allotted time frame.
- Utilize technology to be efficient with daily functions.
- Provide customer service with most up-to-date statuses on potential late shipments.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business/ transportation/ supply chair or 1 years' related transportation experience preferred
- Knowledge of carrier networks, freight pricing, and industry regulations.
- Detail Orientated
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Willingness to take on additional projects/workload and maintain good synergy within the team environment
- Ability to adapt and learn in a changing environment
