OUR CLIENT is looking to add an OPERATIONS MANAGER to their team of operations professionals.
The Operations Manager will provide supervision and support to employees performing in the daily activities of the Operations Department in line with departmental and agency goals/objectives. The Operations Manager will perform specific duties such as planning, coordination, and oversight of transit services, evaluating and training Operations Supervisors and Operations Dispatchers to ensure compliance with scheduled and applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Comprehensive knowledge of transit operations, services and activities
- Advanced understanding of principles and practices of transit system operations management, development, and administration
- Skill in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the work of subordinate staff
- Knowledge of agency vehicles used to include components and data/communications systems
- Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and agency safety programs/policies
- Ability to prepare clear and concise administrative and financial reports
- Clear and concise communication, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work interdepartmentally cohesively
- Ability to work independently and objectively
- Eagerness to resolve customer and community concerns related to safe/efficient public transportation
- Ability to successfully delegate tasks
- Provide appropriate supervision and follow up to staff
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Bachelor's Degree preferred. (Public Administration, Business, Transportation or related field)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of (5) years' experience in transit operations (safety sensitive role)
- Minimum of (2) years' experience in a supervisory capacity
The successful Operations Manager will:
- Establish, within agency policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; allocate resources accordingly.
- Oversee, through Operations staff, the delivery of services for agency operations; work with key staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Assess and monitor workload, support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement; direct and implement changes.
- Assist with selection, training, motivation and evaluation of assigned personnel; provide and/or coordinate management staff training, work with employees to identify and correct deficiencies.
- Work in conjunction with the COO to develop and administer the budget for the Operations department, work to forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies.
- Provide expert professional assistance to the COO; may participate on management committees.
- Monitor and evaluate Operational statistics which may include; vehicle on time statistics, missed runs, revenue cost/data, total work hours, total pay hours, customer complaint data, accident data, roll call data and other operations related functions.
- Develop staffing requirements for Dispatchers, Operators, and assist with evaluating trip patterns for run structure revisions.
- Demonstrate experience with federal, state and local law/agency regulations.
- Effectively and equitably deal with labor union issues.
- Provide and/or manage monthly and annual ongoing and refresher training in topics relevant to the service/service area in a timely manner.
