Job Description:
The Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the overall uptime, security, and performance of the iPERMS application. This position requires a strong skillset in managing IT (information technology) systems with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments and an IT support staff. Responsible for overseeing the security protocols aligned with the Risk Management Framework, performing system vulnerability assessments and remediation, and implementing patch management. Provides vital support for system upgrades, hardware replacements, and troubleshooting technical issues. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, customers, and third-party vendors to ensure smooth and secure operations. This position reports to the Program Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports and maintains the iPERMS IT infrastructure to include but not limited to servers and storage
- Manages the security and performance of IT systems while ensuring compliance with RMF requirements
- Leads a team of IT professionals while providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management
- Reviews vulnerability scans, implement improvements, and oversees the patch management process for all managed systems
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves technical issues
- Stays updated on the latest technical developments and implements industry proven best practices
- Assists with the planning and execution of IT hardware replacements and system upgrades
- Enforces Government computer and information security policies and procedures
- Acts as a liaison with the customer, internal team, and external stakeholders
- Provides support to the Information Assurance team while ensuring adherence to security protocols
- Attends meetings and perform administrative duties as required
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Red Hat Satellite and Ansible experience
- Ability to perform automated system builds utilizing Satellite/Kickstart
- CompTIA Security+ certification
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator/Engineer (RHCSA/RHCSE) certification
- Strong understanding of IT operating systems and environments
- In-depth knowledge of system administration principles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Experience with SAN storage and Brocade switch fabric administration
- Experience with VMware, vSAN, and VxRail
- Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guide checklists
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or related field (highly desirable)
- 7+ years of experience as a Red Hat Enterprise Linux System Administrator
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to climb ladders and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds
