Job Overview:
As the Fabrication and Paint Operations Leader, you will manage day-to-day operations, focusing on productivity, safety, and continuous improvement. Youll lead a team towards achieving customer satisfaction by meeting delivery deadlines, maintaining high-quality standards, and driving a culture of lean manufacturing. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to developing your team's potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operations in fabrication and paint to meet KPIs for productivity, safety, and quality.
- Drive growth in the Refab department to meet sales targets and customer satisfaction through on-time delivery (OTD) and parts-per-million (PPM) scores.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols through the STEP program and achieve safety KPIs.
- Collaborate with customer service and scheduling teams to maintain an on-time delivery rate of 95% or higher.
- Analyze capacity needs to ensure production meets demand while managing team workload efficiently.
- Set and monitor goals for quality control, including customer returns, scrap rates, and rework.
- Mentor team members by developing career paths and providing regular performance reviews.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing processes to optimize workflow and reduce lead times.
- Collaborate with the engineering department to plan capital expenditures for the next three years, ensuring ROI on all investments.
- Create and manage a sustainable monthly budget for repairs, maintenance, and operational costs.
Recommended Qualifications:
- Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within metal fabrication.
- Proven leadership training or experience, with a focus on team development and coaching.
- Strong ability to interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and safety documents.
- Experience working with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to handle complex variables in dynamic environments.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to team members, customers, and suppliers.
- Proficiency in basic algebra and geometry, with experience applying these concepts in a manufacturing setting.
- Valid Michigan Drivers License and certification as a qualified lift truck driver.
